Create lasting, positive change using the best tools available

WHAT WE DO

Better Way Consulting empowers you to ask better questions

We use quantitative and qualitative methods — like in-depth interviews, surveys, and focus groups — to understand the problems your organization faces. Then, we provide data-driven insights that help you solve and prevent those problems in the future.

We want to help your organization become as efficient as possible. When the suggestion box in the break room or social media polls aren’t enough, collaborate with Better Way Consulting for content analysis, user research, and data analysis. We conduct market research, like pre-market audience testing, competitor analysis, brand perception measurement, and driver-and-barrier analysis.

RESEARCH

Interviews

Interviews allow you to gain an in-depth look at a person’s thoughts, feelings, experiences, and perceptions that you can’t capture with a feedback form. Interviews are best performed with mixed-methods research. They can predicate a survey or offer an opportunity to press into topics that surface in a survey.

RESEARCH

Surveys

Proper survey design is a science and an art. Our experienced team of researchers write surveys that will get you results you can trust. Surveys can include close-ended or open-ended questions and can be offered in various modalities (ie. paper, QR code, emails, links, text messages, and in person).

RESEARCH

Focus Group Design, Hosting, and Moderation

Our team of professionals ensures the questions you ask will get you the best information possible. We have experience in reading the room, pulling information out of hesitant participants, managing a variety of personalities at once, and knowing when to push or pull back. We also offer distraction-free online focus group hosting, which can be ideal for a larger variety of participants.

RESEARCH

Content Analysis

Our team of researchers can examine customer reviews, existing documents, and news articles for keywords, themes, and ideas. We summarize large bits of information, find common themes, and answer the question that started it all.

This service also applies to policy analysis. Looking to start a program and want to compare similar ones? We find strengths, gaps, and common themes.

EVALUATION

Logic Models

We partner with you to guide you through the process of examining your organization’s purpose, mission, and values and map how that plays out in the resources you use and the services you offer. We want to ensure that you see the results you want to see and measure them appropriately.

EVALUATION

Evaluability Assessments

We help identify whether or not a program is in a condition to be evaluated. How set up are you to go through a program evaluation? What are the current strengths in your organization that will lend themselves to a program evaluation? By the end of the project, you will know what you still need, what you have, and where everything is.

EVALUATION

Program Evaluation

Is your program or policy actually achieving the results you want? Our team systematically collects, analyzes, and uses information to answer questions about the effectiveness of projects, policies, and programs. It ensures you’re using resources in the most efficient way. We identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities of policies or programs.

EVALUATION

Employee/Culture Evaluation

Our team helps give you a current, holistic picture of your organization’s health. We help you evaluate your human resources: the strengths, weaknesses, hidden talents, and benefits of the people working for you. When a suggestion box in the break room isn’t enough, we act as a third party to interview people, keep them anonymous, and let you in on what’s actually going on.

EVALUATION

Brand Perception & Market Testing

If you’re considering a brand refresh or transition, we measure the perspectives on your current brand, find your strength, and identify the core parts of your brand so you don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. We measure your leaders, customers, staff, and potential customers’ perception of the brand. We test new marks among key audiences through focus groups before you commit to launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the evaluation process?

At Better Way Consulting, we take a holistic approach to evaluation that involves three steps: LOOK IN — LOOK AROUND — LOOK FORWARD.

  1. Look In: What is the current state of reality? What are your goals and objectives? What are you doing to achieve them? How is success measured?

  2. Look Around: What are the resources and partnerships available to you? Who else is doing what you do, and what can you learn from them? What are the perspectives of the people you are hoping to impact?

  3. Look Forward: What adjustments need to be made to meet your goals/the needs of the population you serve? What should you start/stop doing to better use your resources? How will you know when you’ve achieved success?

And repeat!

How long do your projects last?

Of course, the exact timeline will depend on the project’s scope, but our projects tend to be anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months, start-to-finish. We design our work around your organizational needs and deadlines, so you can expect to have a large amount of input in overall project timelines.

Who are your typical clients?

We typically work with non-profit organizations, marketing firms, small businesses, and organizations in the education and healthcare sectors.

If you are a religious organization or congregation, check out our sister organization, FaithWise Insights, for specific research packages designed for you.

What sets your firm apart from others?

Better Way Consulting was founded because we want to help organizations that do good do even better. Our passion to empower other organizations to use research and evaluation to make a difference is at the heart of all we do.

When we begin working with a new client, we bring our expertise but no expectations, meaning each project is completely tailored to each client’s needs and resources. Our empowerment approach is unique in this field because we hope that, by working with us, you will be empowered to set up internal systems and rhythms of evaluation that will eventually replace your need for us.
